AN ACT
1 Amending the act of October 27, 1955 (P.L.744, No.222),
2 entitled, as amended, "An act providing for employment
3 practice relating to law enforcement officers and
4 firefighters," providing for employment practice relating to
5 law enforcement officers and firefighters.
6 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7 hereby enacts as follows:
8 Section 1. The act of October 27, 1955 (P.L.744, No.222),
9 known as the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, is amended by
10 adding a section to read:
11 Section 5.4. Employment as a Law Enforcement Officer or
12 Firefighter.--It shall not be an unlawful discriminatory
13 employment practice for an employer, which is the Commonwealth
14 or a political subdivision, to fail or refuse to hire any
15 individual as a law enforcement officer, police officer recruit,
16 or firefighter because of such individual's age.
17 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
