                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of July 6, 1989 (P.L.169, No.32), entitled "An
     2     act providing for the regulation of storage tanks and tank
     3     facilities; imposing additional powers and duties on the
     4     Department of Environmental Resources and the Environmental
     5     Quality Board; and making an appropriation," exempting
     6     volunteer fire companies and volunteer emergency medical
     7     service organizations from the underground storage tank
     8     registration fee.

     9     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    10  hereby enacts as follows:
    11     Section 1.  Section 503(a) of the act of July 6, 1989
    12  (P.L.169, No.32), known as the Storage Tank and Spill Prevention
    13  Act, is amended to read:
    14  Section 503.  Registration.
    15     (a)  Requirements.--Every owner of an underground storage
    16  tank, except as specifically excluded by policy or regulation of
    17  the department, shall register with the department each
    18  underground storage tank by completing and submitting the form
    19  provided by the department and by paying the registration fee
    20  prescribed by the department for each underground storage tank

     1  within three months of the effective date of this act. Volunteer
     2  fire companies and volunteer emergency medical services
     3  organizations which own underground storage tanks shall register
     4  each underground storage tank with the department, but shall not
     5  be required to pay the registration fee. It shall be unlawful
     6  for any owner or operator to operate or use, in any way, any
     7  underground storage tank that has not been registered as
     8  required by this section.
